Landscapes of the Soul: Reflections on Creation as Sacrament

  • The House of Prayer 35 Seymour Road East Molesey United Kingdom (map)

Led by Tina Beattie

Tina Beattie reflects on themes of creation, sacramentality and prayer in dialogue with Pope Francis's encyclical, Laudato Si'. Drawing on a wide range of sources including medieval theology, ecofeminism, poetry, art and music, Tina asks how we might refocus our sense of sacramentality through contemplation on nature,  in order to heal the broken bonds of communication and care between ourselves and the natural world.

Starts at 10am and ends at 4pm. Please bring a packed lunch.

You can attend this day online via Zoom or in person at the House of Prayer.

Cost: £30

Tina is a theologian and writer who was Professor of Catholic Studies at the University of Roehampton in London until she left in July 2020 to work in a freelance capacity. She continues in her role as Director of Catherine of Siena College, an online college offering courses in theology, gender and social justice based at Roehampton. Tina's main academic interests are in the areas of sacramental theology, gender, and issues of sexual and reproductive dignity and rights. She is currently writing a book on Laudato Si', gender and the dignity of creation to be published by Oxford University Press.
